09.06.05 - 1 hour old and struggling to get up Epona is already a really caring mother, 1 hour after the birth 3 hours later, up and drinking like a champion.... She has really looong legs Epona is just as tired here as the little one

She has a really nice head, and I wonder if she will stay bay, as she has a very special colour 4 hours old - all legs and ears... Just soo tired..
Trying to lie down in the hay for a nap
With auntie Carmen in the background... Curious, but safely staying behind, out of trouble.. This one is my favourite photo of today...

19.06.05 - sleepy again, but now she has learned to enjoy the comfort of the straw in their little stall, so she takes the opportunity to take a little nap, as mum is eating her breakfast Eventually she will become like Djacar was last year... almost impossible to make photos of, as she already starts following me around... She is a very upright filly - and, I wonder.. haven't her legs grown even longer during this first week? Here she is eating hay next to her mum What mum does, I can do as well...

Still chewing...
And, as can be seen from these pics, Epona is already much more relaxed about the situation, and allows Evita to walk around "on her own", without following her every footstep
It really takes a looong time to chew such a handful of hay, when you are just about getting your teeth... Here she has either finished her hay, or given up on it... Here all three horses are eating hay at the same time, showing that Epona is even relaxed enough to let Evita get close to Carmen (and the other way around), so I think, they will end up being a nice little herd. She also tries to eat out of her mums bucket, when the mares are eating, even though she can barely reach the bottom.

02.07.05 - she is still very interested in her mums food, but I have tried to serve her something in a bucket of her own, which isn't nearly as funny as nerving mum... ... and if mum doesn't allow her to "steal" a little something, then she just tries out her luck with auntie Carmen... Sorry, byt mum says I have to stay here, though I would love to come over for a little "chat"... Eating hay with the "grown ups" again... And now she is actually really eating it, though she still needs lots of time for the chewing... I am getting more and more confident that she will stay bay

I just love her expression Hey! Are you there? She is a very nice horse, I think... I'm thirsty...
Very comfortable to have "the bar" just next to you, whenever you get thirsty
Eating what is left of mums tail....
