My Shagya mare "Carmen".

May 2005:

Carmen's first foal, Djacar (by Daru) has left us in April.
She has been a wonderful mother all along, but it didn't take her more than a few days to get used to him not being around anymore.
She is very easy to feed, so she didn't look like having had a foal for 9½ months, and now I have to be careful again not to feed her too much.
Now that he is gone, I will slowly start working her, and the plan is that I should be riding her this summer.
Wish us good luck with this project, as I haven't been riding now, since Askepot past away...

January 2002:

Carmen came to me in the summer of 2001, as I had to put my 5 years old Arabian gelding down due to a very severe laminitis in May. As Askepot was grieving very much, because of being without her companion, I searched intensively for a new horse. As my finances were limited, I had the options of either buying a ridden gelding, or a young mare. I was in no doubt that I should look for another Arabian, and looked for both Purebreds and Shagyas. But as I have fallen in love with the Shagyas, I ended up going for a young registered filly, so that I could eventually have a foal or two later. I found Carmen, among other prospects, to be a very beautiful, friendly, calm and people orientated little girl - and for the time, she has lived with me now, she has proven to be everything I hoped for.
